Study description

Participants will have to complete an online section, as well as navigate a virtual town on the advice of two characters.
Our study will last roughly 1 hour, and can be broken down into 3 sections:
1. Instructions, some simple questions and an online task delivered using your browser. This will introduce our study and the characters we will be using for our tasks, and you will play a brief point-scoring game involving these characters.
2. You will then switch to our VR task, where you will have to make decisions on which direction to travel and may consult our characters throughout.
3. Finally, you will be asked a few more questions and prompted to upload your data to our dropbox, as well as to give your email so you can receive the Amazon Voucher.

Participant requirements

You will need your own VR Headset which is compatible with SteamVR. Google Chrome is recommended for our online platform.

We have tested our study using the HTC Vive, Oculus Rift S, and Oculus Quest. Participants have successfully also used the Vive Cosmos, Vive Pro 2, Oculus Quest 2, Valve Index, Pimax, and WindowsMR.

Please note that Pimax users should have ‘use parallel projections’ enabled to prevent the distance appearing different in each eye.
