Study description
Participate in a compensated virtual reality (VR) research study!
Hello! We are seeking participants for a VR research study about how people interact with objects in a virtual space. The research study is expected to take between 30 minutes and 2 hours. Participants are compensated at the rate of $12/hour.
We are looking for people who fulfill these criteria:
-
Between the ages of 18 and 50
-
Fluent in English and reside in a primarily English speaking country
-
Vision that is normal or corrected-to-normal (such as through glasses or contact lenses)
-
Do not have a cognitive impairment (including attention or learning disorder)
-
Have access to an Oculus virtual reality headset and Windows (for example: Rift, Rift S, Quest 2, etc.) with motion-tracking controllers and microphone
-
Can stand without issue for approximately 1 hour without interruption
-
Have a physical VR space of at least 6.5 ft x 6.5 ft without barriers or interference
Participants need to complete the study in a quiet room where they will not be interrupted. The potential foreseeable risks are those typically associated with using virtual reality, most notably motion sickness or dizziness, and there are no direct benefits to you.
Upon successful completion of the study, you will be compensated for your time through an online form. Payment will be sent electronically through PayPal.
All responses will be kept confidential. Your participation is voluntary and you may withdraw from this project at any time, without penalty. This study is being conducted by Griffin Koch at the University of Pittsburgh, who can be reached at gek21@pitt.edu, if you have any questions. The study is being overseen by Dr. Marc Coutanche at the University of Pittsburgh, who can be reached at marc.coutanche@pitt.edu.
